Thomas Christiansen: 'Three points against Ipswich Town all that counts'

Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen admits that Saturday's clash with Ipswich Town "was intense", as his side held on to claim three more points.

Thomas Christiansen has confessed that Leeds United "suffered" against Ipswich Town, but was delighted to see his side come away with all three points.

The Whites had to dig deep to maintain their unbeaten run at Elland Road, as they held out for a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Joe Garner pulled a goal back for Ipswich with 20 minutes to go in West Yorkshire, though Leeds did what was required to get the job done and remain top of the table ahead of Tuesday's trip to fellow pacesetters Cardiff City.

"It was an intense game that had everything," he told reporters. "During the 90 minutes, we were in front and immediately after the 1-1 goal we managed to score.

"Then in the second half we should keep the result, trying to control the game a little better, but we suffered at the end. The most important thing is we got the three points.

"Ipswich were only two points away from us, so we knew it was a six-point game that we had to face today. The response was good and the result was better. We will have time to work on Cardiff, not too many days, but a few days will be enough."

Leeds are top of the Championship pile by virtue of their superior goal difference over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff, who also have 20 points from the first nine games.
