Steve Evans: 'No manager is certain of getting time'

Leeds United coach Steve Evans states that no manager is ever really confident that they will be given enough time to prove their worth and put their own stamp on a club.

Leeds United boss Steve Evans has admitted that managers are never confident that they will be given enough time to prove themselves.

Evans heads a Leeds side that has had six managers at the helm since the first half of last year, but the coach is hoping that he will himself be handed enough scope in order to put his own stamp on the team.

"You're never confident you'll get time, whether it's at Leeds United or the manager of any club," Evans told Sky Sports News.

"You look at Gary [Bowyer] going this week at Blackburn, it just seems to be the fashion that if it's not working you sack the manager.

"You've got to believe you'll get time if you win matches and that's the remit I was given. I was appointed really because the owner thought that perhaps a relegation fight was going to be the order of the day. That is simply not going to happen."

Leeds currently occupy 15th spot in the Championship standings.
