Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino downplays Matt Smith exit talk

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino says that he is aiming to keep hold of striker Matt Smith.

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has downplayed reports linking Matt Smith with a move away from Elland Road this summer.

Millwall are believed to be tracking the striker, but Cellino has no intention of allowing another forward to leave following the sale of Ross McCormack to Fulham.

The Italian went on to say that he is keen to recruit another forward to complement experienced duo Steve Morison and Noel Hunt.

"Smith is growing, he's a nice player and I think he wants to stay," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "A new forward is coming to help Morison, Hunt and Smith."

Cellino claims that Leeds are aiming to sign another "five or six" players before the new season begins.
