Leeds United want to re-sign Jermaine Beckford?

Leeds are keen to re-sign Jermaine Beckford when he becomes a free agent this summer, according to a report.

Leeds United are reportedly keen to re-sign Bolton Wanderers striker Jermaine Beckford.

The 31-year-old is currently on loan to Preston North End and is poised to end his loan spell with the Lillywhites by playing in their League One playoff final against Swindon at Wembley on Sunday.

Beckford is set to become a free agent after being released by Bolton Wanderers upon the expiration of his contract at the Macron Stadium.

The frontman is a favourite with the supporters at Leeds, having scored 85 goals in five years with the Whites before leaving for Everton in 2010.

Preston, who are managed by former Leeds boss Simon Grayson, are said to be keen to make Beckford's signing permanent and they remain favourites to land the Jamaican international.

However, should they fail to win promotion to the Championship, they could struggle to finance a deal for the frontman.

Leeds are monitoring Beckford's situation and could offer him a return to Elland Road as they look to build a side capable of challenging for promotion to the Premier League next season, according to HITC Sport.

Beckford has scored 15 goals in 30 appearances for Preston this season.
