Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers admits that Wilfred Ndidi could miss the rest of the 2021-22 season due to a knee injury.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Wilfred Ndidi may not play again this season due to a knee injury.

The Nigerian midfielder sustained the issue in the Europa Conference League against Rennes last week and was nowhere to be seen in the Foxes' 2-1 win over Brentford at the weekend.

Ndidi is set to visit a specialist to determine the severity of the issue, but Rodgers has conceded that he is not overly optimistic about the 25-year-old's chances of playing again this term.

"Wilf is not so good. He is getting a second opinion on that. Whether he will play for the rest of the season or not, we are not quite sure, which is a real shame for us," Rodgers told reporters.

The Foxes boss is now facing a European dilemma in the middle of the park, with Nampalys Mendy ineligible to take part in next month's quarter-final with PSV Eindhoven.

Ndidi has scored two goals and provided one assist in 30 appearances for Rodgers's side this season and missed 18 games of the 2020-21 campaign due to injury.
