Leicester City crowned English champions

Leicester City are the champions of England for the first time in their history.

Leicester City have been crowned the 24th different champions of England thanks to tonight's 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Claudio Ranieri's Foxes, who started the season as one of the favourites with the bookmakers to be relegated, recorded their 77th point of a historic campaign yesterday afternoon with a 1-1 draw away at Manchester United.

It meant that second-placed Tottenham Hotspur needed to claim maximum points from their trip to rivals Chelsea this evening to keep the Premier League title race alive.

They seemed to be on course to do just that when first-half goals from Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min put them in the ascendancy, but the hosting Blues hit back through Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard.

That was enough to ensure that the trophy would be heading to the East Midlands and the King Power Stadium for the first time in the club's 132-year history.
