Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp reveals that Dominik Szoboszlai has suffered another hamstring problem.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Dominik Szoboszlai has suffered another hamstring problem, with the midfielder now needing "further assessment".

The 23-year-old recently missed four games due to a hamstring issue before returning to action against Chelsea last week, scoring in a 4-1 victory for the Reds at Anfield.

Szoboszlai was a notable absentee from the Liverpool squad at the Emirates Stadium, though, and Klopp has said that the Hungary international is struggling with another hamstring issue.

"Dom felt in the same area, or pretty much a similar area, to where he was injured before," Klopp told Sky Sports News ahead of the clash at the Emirates Stadium.

"Not in the game, he was fine, and then after the game [he felt it] slightly so we had a look at it and there was now no chance for him to be involved in this game.

"We cannot take any risk. We have to wait for further assessment but it was clear that he cannot be involved today. That's it, pretty much."

Szoboszlai has been in impressive form for Liverpool during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring five goals and registering four assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.

The Hungarian has three goals and three assists in 21 Premier League appearances, with the midfielder impressing during his first season at Anfield.

Darwin Nunez was left out of the starting XI for the clash at the Emirates Stadium, meanwhile, and Klopp said before the match that it was a tactical decision.

"Nothing to do with intensity in the games we have. It is how we start and how we use the full power of the boys. Darwin from the bench is a good thing to have as well," he added.

"It is just for this game how we thought it made sense. But we really think when he comes on he can change the game and have a real impact."

Liverpool have another two Premier League matches against Burnley and Brentford before taking on Chelsea in the EFL Cup final at the end of the month.

The Merseyside team will then tackle either Watford or Southampton in the fifth round of the FA Cup, with four trophies on offer in Klopp's final season at the club, including the Europa League, with the club present in the last-16 stage of the European competition.
