Jurgen Klopp: Sadio Mane injury "not that serious"

Jurgen Klopp expects to have Sadio Mane back in action soon after seeing his £33m summer signing pick up a shoulder injury in training.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has moved to ease fears of a potential long-term layoff for Sadio Mane by revealing that the injury suffered in training "is not that serious".

The £34m summer signing from Southampton was facing a potential spell on the sidelines after damaging his shoulder at Melwood on Wednesday morning, just a few days on from bagging a debut goal for the Reds in their 4-3 win at Arsenal.

Initial reports suggested that Mane may have dislocated his shoulder following an awkward fall, but Klopp expects to see the Senegal international back in action sooner rather than later.

"It was a situation in a challenge with two players up in the air, they come down and Sadio fell on his shoulder, but it's not that serious," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend's trip to Burnley

"I have no idea if he can play on the weekend or not but I don't think it will take a long time. Things like this will always happen."

Mane featured 43 times for Southampton last season in all competitions, scoring 15 times - including eight in eight to end the campaign - to pave the way for his big-money Anfield switch.
