Ian Rush: Daniel Sturridge return will be "massive boost" for Liverpool

Former Liverpool striker Ian Rush believes that Daniel Sturridge's return from injury will be a "massive boost" for the Anfield side.

Liverpool's record goalscorer Ian Rush has said that Daniel Sturridge's return from injury will be a "massive boost" for the Anfield side.

The striker picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty with England last month which has forced him to miss the last four weeks.

Rush has admitted that Liverpool have "missed" Sturridge and told the club's website: "It's a massive boost. We have missed Daniel, he's a quality player. With the international week, there's even more time for him to come back from his injury.

"You look at the game against Tottenham, when Sturridge, [Mario] Balotelli and [Raheem] Sterling played, there were goals in the three of them and they were absolutely fantastic.

"It will be a big boost to have Daniel back and hopefully get the side going again. We had a good win [against West Bromwich Albion] so what we're looking for now is to maintain that."

Sturridge may be in contention when Liverpool face Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road next Sunday.
