Jurgen Klopp has been reportedly left feeling 'horrified' by the idea of Liverpool having to replay an EFL Cup tie against MK Dons in response to the manager fielding an ineligible player.

A starting XI littered with academy graduates and youngsters cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over the League One side last month courtesy of goals from James Milner and Ki-Jana Hoever.

However, Liverpool face an investigation by the FA for their use of Pedro Chirivella, who was not re-registered with the club following a loan spell at Spanish Segunda Division side Extremadura last season.

According to The Times, sources close to Klopp have claimed that the German is 'horrified' by the prospect of replaying the fixture.

The EFL will address the case this week and have the options of expelling Liverpool from the competition, imposing a fine, or ordering the clubs to play again.

Klopp has already expressed concern at Liverpool's heavy workload this season, with the Reds set for a visit to Qatar in the Club World Cup in December.
