Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Liverpool on Tuesday, July 21.

The buildup to the summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Liverpool eye possible reinforcements.

Jurgen Klopp's league leaders have not been particularly busy during recent windows, but that has not stopped the rumour mill from linking them with additions.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Anfield.

Tuesday morning's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:

Nicolas Anelka urges Liverpool's Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah to resist Real Madrid

Former forward Nicolas Anelka has claimed that Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah should reject any opportunity to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid.

Although no transfer is in the offing, the pair have regularly been linked with an eventual switch to the La Liga giants.

However, on the back of Liverpool's Premier League title triumph, Anelka has described Anfield as "the place to be".

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the Frenchman said: "Salah and Mane are ranking in the top five best players in the world right now. They have the quality to play for Real Madrid.

"But today Liverpool can compete with Real Madrid so they don't need to move. Liverpool is very much the place to be."

Anelka played for both clubs during the early stages of his career, contributing a total of 12 goals from 53 appearances.

Manchester United, Liverpool keen on Sporting Lisbon youngster Nuno Mendes?

Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly identified Sporting Lisbon defender Nuno Mendes as a potential signing.

Despite having only turned 18 in June, Mendes has already been provided with five starts and two substitute outings in Portugal's top flight.

Each of those appearances have come since the resumption, potentially an indication that Sporting view the teenager as an important player for next season.

However, Calciomercato claims that United and Liverpool are showing an interest in a player who has recently been deployed as a left wing-back.

Although United are well stocked for options in that area, Premier League champions Liverpool may view the youngster as the ideal backup to Andrew Robertson.

Juventus are also said to be active in the race for Mendes, who has a £41m release clause in his contract.
