Alberto Moreno pleased with Liverpool return

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno admits that he is glad to be back in the Reds side.

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has admitted that he is relieved to have earned his place back in the team.

The Spaniard had to settle for a place on the bench in the opening weeks of the season, as Brendan Rodgers preferred summer signing Joe Gomez at left-back.

Moreno was recalled to the side for the Europa League draw with Bordeaux a fortnight ago, and the 23-year-old has retained his spot since.

"What you've got to do is keep working, get your head down in training and work really hard so you're ready when you get the chance," Moreno told the Liverpool Echo.

"The manager thought it was the right time to put me in against Bordeaux and I grabbed my chance. I think I've done reasonably well since then. I've had three more games and I think I've played well, but obviously I'm still a young player and I know I can still continue to improve.

"I hope I'm giving the fans something to cheer about with my play and hopefully I'll continue to impress them with my performances."

Moreno has made 49 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Sevilla in August 2014.
