Adam Bogdan 'not happy' being second-choice goalkeeper at Liverpool

Adam Bogdan insists that he does not want to settle for being the number two goalkeeper at Liverpool.

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has claimed that he is trying to oust Simon Mignolet as the first-choice shot-stopper at Anfield.

The Hungarian signed for the Reds from Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer in the summer to play second fiddle to Mignolet.

However, the 27-year-old is determined to prove his ability to manager Brendan Rodgers ahead of tonight's third-round Capital One Cup tie against Carlisle United, in which Bogdan is expected to start.

"If I play [against Carlisle] then it's a chance to get a game under my belt and show what I can do," Bogdan told the Liverpool Echo.

"I didn't sign for Liverpool to sit around on the bench or be happy being the number two keeper. Like everyone else, I'm here to compete for a place in the team."

Bogdan is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Merseyside outfit.
