Former Liverpool striker Titi Camara has claimed that compatriot Naby Keita has "has his heart set" on a move to Anfield and has informed RB Leipzig of his intention to leave.
The 22-year-old appeared to talk down the prospect of joining the Reds last week when admitting that he could instead see himself playing for a club such as rivals Manchester City.
That has not discouraged Liverpool from making an approach, however, with reports suggesting that they are willing to pay a club-record fee of £70m to prise him away from last season's Bundesliga surprise package Leipzig.
Camara, who made 37 appearances for Liverpool in the 1999-2000 campaign before moving on, now expects Keita to follow in his footsteps by joining the Merseyside outfit.
"From what I'm led to believe Naby has his heart set on LFC move," he posted on Twitter. "Leipzig have been informed of his intent and are looking for replacement."
Keita is said to have a £55m release clause inserted in his contract which comes into effect in 12 months' time, but Jurgen Klopp is not prepared to wait that long for his priority signing.
