Jamie Carragher backs Steven Gerrard international retirement decision

Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher believes that Steven Gerrard has made the right decision to retire from international football.

Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher has backed Steven Gerrard's decision to retire from international football.

The 34-year-old midfielder called time on his England career on Monday having won 114 caps for his country.

With Gerrard now able to focus more on Liverpool, Carragher believes that his ex-teammate has made the right choice with regards to his future.


Gerrard's final appearance for England came at the World Cup during their goalless draw with Costa Rica.
