Wales boss Chris Coleman is confident that Craig Bellamy will play a part in the qualifier for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
There has been speculation about the Liverpool striker's international future following the death of Gary Speed.
However, Bellamy travelled to New York to play against Mexico in a friendly on Sunday, leading Coleman to believe that the 32-year-old would like to prolong his Wales career.
"I always thought Craig would play in the World Cup qualifying campaign because I've had various conversations with him and they have always been positive," said Coleman.
"Craig knows he is a big part of our plans and if we are to do anything in this qualifying campaign then we have a better chance with Craig being part of it.
"People tend to forget Craig is 32 and has won almost 70 caps. You don't get those if you don't turn up so I expected him here."
Bellamy scored nine goals in 18 games for Liverpool last season.
