Liverpool midifielder Philippe Coutinho believes that Luis Suarez has the same "quality" of Neymar and is desperate for him to remain at the club.

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho believes that Luis Suarez has the same "quality" as Neymar and for that reason he wants him to remain at the club.

The Uruguayan international stated that he wants to leave the Reds at the start of the summer transfer window and has been the subject of two bids by Arsenal, both of which have reportedly been rejected by the Merseysiders.

Coutinho told reporters: "They are both big names and both great players — so for sure you can make the comparison.

"They have different qualities as players, Neymar is more about dribbling and organising the attacks, while Suarez scores a lot of goals.

"So although you can't compare them directly as players, Luis is on a par with him in terms of qualities, for sure. They are both exceptional players and that's why it is important he stays — and obviously we all hope that he stays."

Coutinho and his Liverpool teammates will be action later today in their pre-season clash with Melbourne Victory.
