New Liverpool signing Fabinho insists that he will play wherever manager Jurgen Klopp wants him to following his summer arrival from Monaco.

New Liverpool signing Fabinho has insisted that he is happy to play wherever Jurgen Klopp wants him to following his arrival from Monaco.

Fabinho's preferred position is as a defensive midfielder, but he has also been utilised as a right-back in the past and is capable of playing in a number of different positions.

Should the Brazilian be deployed in his most recognised role then it would put him in direct competition with captain Jordan Henderson - who is expected to miss the start of the season after helping England to the semi-finals of the World Cup - but Fabinho says that he will be content with whatever plans Klopp has for him.

"Henderson – he did an excellent World Cup. If he comes later on or not, it doesn't count that much because I will have to apply myself," Fabinho is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

"I can play wherever the manager wants. He has already said that he can use me in various positions. Last season when I was at Monaco, when we had the need for me to defend, I used to stay back and my teammates would attack.

"If the same thing happens here, I don't mind whether I have to defend or attack. If they need a leg up front, I'm also happy to go up there as well. If they need a leg behind, I'll assist behind."

Fabinho could make his competitive debut for Liverpool when they host West Ham United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
