Steven Gerrard eyes cup double

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard believes that winning the FA Cup, in addition to their triumph in the Carling Cup, demonstrate the strength of their squad.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has called on his teammates to answer their critics by winning two trophies this season.

The Reds have already picked up the Carling Cup this year, but their league form has been disappointing with the club currently sitting eighth in the Premier League table, two points behind local rivals Everton.

However, Gerrard believes that success in the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 5 will prove that Liverpool have a very strong squad.

"To get to one final is a big deal, but you can get there with a bit of luck and some good performances," said the England international.

"To reach two finals in the same season, though, proves that you are a good team with a good squad. If we go on and win this cup we can look at this season as a success.

"We are confident (for the final) but we are not getting carried away. It is going to be a massive game."

Gerrard is expected to return to Liverpool's starting lineup for today's match against Norwich City having been rested for their 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
