Glenn Hoddle: 'Queens Park Rangers have to stop Raheem Sterling'

Queens Park Rangers coach Glenn Hoddle admits that his side face an extremely tough task in stopping Raheem Sterling in their Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Queens Park Rangers coach Glenn Hoddle has admitted that his side's success against Liverpool hinges on how they cope with the threat of Raheem Sterling.

The 19-year-old has hit the headlines over the past week for complaining of fatigue ahead of England's Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia, which resulted in him being rested for the game.

However, Hoddle feels that Sterling will be on top of his game in the clash against Harry Redknapp's side at Loftus Road on Sunday, and has confessed that the Hoops have their work cut out to stop him.

Hoddle told the Daily Mail: "We have to come up with a plan for stopping him, which is much easier said than done.

"It is very difficult to pin down someone like Sterling because the laws of the game have changed in favour of the more skilful players, which is one of the reasons why he will be such an asset for club and country.

"The only way to contain such a player is to work hard collectively in all areas of the pitch to minimise the space he has. But it is hard to pin him down because he is so comfortable in a variety of positions, something unusual in such a young player."

QPR face Liverpool in their Premier League clash in London on Sunday.
