Loris Karius insists that he is feeling "confident" after keeping a 10th clean sheet for Liverpool in 19 matches.

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has insisted that he is feeling "confident" now that he is number one at Anfield.

The German stopper took the role from Simon Mignolet at the turn of the year, and so far this season has kept 10 clean sheets in 19 matches in all competitions.

On Tuesday, Karius finished the night unscathed as the Reds recorded a goalless draw with Porto in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Anfield.

The result was enough to send the Merseyside outfit into the quarter-finals of the elite competition as they had already earned a 5-0 triumph in the first leg.

"Of course I'm confident. We're playing well and getting good results, so there's no reason not to be confident," Karius told the club's official website.

"But you can't rest on that, you have to show it week in, week out. I want to develop more, get better every week and have good games for the club. Hopefully it's only the beginning.

"It was an aim for us, to build on the recent form of not conceding many goals and having a lot of clean sheets. That's always a good thing for me and for the whole team. 90% of the time if we keep a clean sheet we win the game because we score up front."

This Saturday, the Reds will take on arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
