Summer arrival Naby Keita claims that Liverpool have "the quality" to be able to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Summer arrival Naby Keita has said that Liverpool have the potential to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Liverpool only finished in fourth place last campaign - partly due to their run to the Champions League final - but Jurgen Klopp has already spent more than £170m ahead of the new season.

Keita has joined Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri in arriving at Anfield, and the Guinean has suggested that the first-team squad contain the key components required to launch a bid for the top-flight crown.

The 23-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I know we have enough quality. It's all about having the mindset and desire to want it and fight for it enough. I think that goes a long way, having that desire and belief.

"I'm someone who has this real winning mentality. I have a huge desire to win. That's why I'm aggressive in a positive sense on the field."

Liverpool begin the new campaign with a home fixture against West Ham United on August 12.
