Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana believes that his side can learn a lot from their defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
Daniel Agger's goal in the 43rd minute proved to be enough for the Reds to register a 1-0 victory at home in the Premier League.
"This is something for us to look up to," Lallana told the club's official website. "The way they played out from the back and played with the ball was great, and we couldn't live with them.
"We have shown improvements of late and we've got a big Christmas period coming up without a midweek game this week, so we'll recover well.
"We now have to get ready for Reading, which is a massive game. We owe them one after last year because they beat us 3-1 at St Mary's."
Southampton are currently third from bottom in the league table.
