West Bromwich Albion striker Rickie Lambert has admitted that he is "desperate" to end his nine-month goal drought in a bid to steer the club away from relegation danger in the Premier League.
The 33-year-old has not scored a first-team goal since joining the Baggies from Liverpool, having last found the net for the Reds against Aston Villa in January.
As he did at Anfield, the former Southampton man has found his opportunities limited at The Hawthorns with Tony Pulis handing him only three starts to date since his summer move, but he is eager to play a bigger role at the club.
"I'm more desperate than anyone else [to start scoring again], it's what I get paid for," he told BBC Sport."I'm just going to keep working hard and hope it comes this Saturday.
"I know that there is more to this role under [Tony] Pulis than just scoring goals. You get asked [to do] a lot more defensively than I have been in the past, but it's something you have to get used to and I'm trying to get as fit as I can.
"[Pulis] has decided to go with Salomon Rondon at the minute, but I'm on the bench waiting for my chance. We want to improve our attacking, we want to be more adventurous and score more goals."
Albion have managed just seven goals in their first nine Premier League games of the season, making them the second-lowest scorers in the top flight.
