Liverpool's Simon Mignolet: 'I knew Philippe Coutinho would score quality goal'

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet says that he knew that Philippe Coutinho was going to score a "quality" goal against Stoke City on Sunday.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has claimed that when Philippe Coutinho set up his strike against Stoke City, there was only going to be one outcome.

The Brazilian scored in the 86th minute to give the Reds a 1-0 win and all three points in their opening game of the season at the Britannia Stadium.

"I knew what was going to happen," Mignolet told the Liverpool Echo. "The moment Philippe got the ball out of his feet and cut inside I was shouting 'shoot!'

"I see that quality from him every day in training. That great talent is something he was born with. He also works his socks off for the team. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of that from him this season."

Liverpool's next game is against Premier League newcomers Bournemouth at Anfield on August 17.
