Liverpool's Simon Mignolet: 'We want to stay at top of Premier League table'

Simon Mignolet says that Liverpool will try to keep their place at the top of the Premier League table following last night's 2-2 draw with Swansea City.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has insisted that he and his teammates will try to keep their place at the top of the Premier League table following last night's draw with Swansea City.

The Merseyside outfit climbed back to the top with a point after Swansea managed to draw level at 2-2 at the Liberty Stadium.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey scored against his former club within the first two minutes before gifting the Reds two goals, and then salvaging the draw by setting up Michu for the equaliser.

"Swansea are a very good footballing side and going away from home is always tough in this division," the Liverpool Echo quotes Mignolet as saying.

"We'll take the point, move on and focus on winning our next game against Southampton at Anfield on Saturday. It's a good feeling to look at the table.

"It's pleasing to be top. We want to stay there and let's hope we can do the business this weekend."

Liverpool are one point clear of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the table.
