Liverpool will be without Glen Johnson and Pepe Reina for their League Cup tie with Swansea City on Wednesday night.
The pair missed the Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday, and Reds coach Mike Marsh has confirmed that they will also be forced to sit out the clash against Michael Laudrup's side.
"They're both unavailable for the Swansea game. We'll see where they are after that," said Marsh.
"The boys have come out of [the derby] well and they're all fit and strong. One or two are carrying knocks.
"We play Swansea in the Capital One Cup and it's a chance to rest one or two and give one or two other players a chance to get some game time."
Spanish goalkeeper Reina is currently suffering with a hamstring problem, while
England international Johnson picked up a knock in the 1-0 win over Anzhi in the Europa League last week.
