Brendan Rodgers: 'Steven Gerrard has recovered from slip against Chelsea'

Brendan Rodgers insists that Steven Gerrad has "picked himself up" following his slip against Chelsea last weekend.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that captain Steven Gerrard is in the right frame of mind following his blunder against Chelsea.

The England skipper's slip in the first half allowed Demba Ba to latch on to the ball and open the scoring in last Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at Anfield.

However, Rodgers has insisted that the mistake was "over-analysed" and Gerrard has recovered ahead of Monday night's match away to Crystal Palace.

"Steven is a guy who has picked himself up over many years after disappointments, and he will do it again," Rodgers said in Friday's press conference. "He's a real, real good man.

"I think it's been a wee bit over-analysed as well - the guy slipped, which can happen to anyone. Unfortunately it led to the goal. It happens and we move on."

Liverpool have a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with as many matches left to play, but the advantage goes to third-placed Manchester City as they have a game in hand.
