Brendan Rodgers positive over Philippe Coutinho knock

Brendan Rodgers believes that Philippe Coutinho's early withdrawal from the draw with Swansea disrupted Liverpool's game, but reveals that the Brazilian's shoulder problem is not serious.

Brendan Rodgers is optimistic that the shoulder problem that forced Philippe Coutinho off in Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Swansea City on Monday is not a serious injury.

The Brazilian left the Liberty Stadium action in the early stages of the second half after colliding with Swansea's Ashley Williams, but the early diagnosis is positive.

Coutinho's withdrawal came at a time when the Reds were leading 2-1, and Rodgers has hinted that Liverpool may have been able to maintain their advantage had he remained on the field.

He told Sky Sports News: "We showed great character to come from behind so early on in the game, but probably young Coutinho going off disrupted the flow of our game.

"I haven't seen the tackle. He's very sore in the changing room, and we're hoping it will only be bruising."

Liverpool are unbeaten in their opening four Premier League matches and currently sit top of the table.
