Brendan Rodgers: 'Luis Suarez return will make Daniel Sturridge better'

Brendan Rodgers insists that Luis Suarez's return will help make Daniel Sturridge a better player.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is adamant that Luis Suarez's return to action will benefit striker Daniel Sturridge.

The England international has been responsible for scoring goals in the first five games of the Premier League season due to Suarez's 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

While some have suggested that Suarez and Sturridge will struggle to play together, Rodgers has no such concerns.

"I think [Suarez's return] will only improve Daniel," Rodgers told reporters. "It will only make him a better player. Good players want to play with other good players and I think you'll see how they perform together.

"They can be a real threat. It's not something Daniel or anyone else should be worried about. I think the focus is on the team and for the team to do well."

Suarez is expected to compete in his first league game of the season against Sunderland on Sunday.
