FIFA confirm Luis Suarez allowed to train, despite four-month ban

FIFA confirm that Luis Suarez is allowed to train during pre-season, despite the Uruguayan being handed a four-month ban from all football activity.

Head of FIFA's disciplinary committee Claudio Sulser has confirmed that Luis Suarez will be allowed to train during his four-month ban, despite the sanction suspending him from all football activity.

The 27-year-old was given the lengthy ban, which includes a nine-match international suspension, for biting the shoulder of Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

While it was assumed that the punishment included a ban on training, Sulser has admitted that it would be "disproportionate" to stop the prolific striker from pre-season preparations.

"No you can't limit those rights to the player, because it would be disproportionate," Sulser told reporters.

Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Suarez's potential move to Barcelona from Liverpool, who are said to be holding out for an £80m fee, could be completed this week.
