Agent: Alberto Aquilani will not leave Liverpool for Fiorentina

Alberto Aquilani will not leave Liverpool this summer, insists the player's agent.

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani will not leave the club this summer, the player's agent has insisted.

Reports emerged over the weekend suggesting that the Italy international was being monitored by Fiorentina, who were thought to be preparing an official bid for the former Roma star.

However, Aquilani's agent has ruled out the possibility of the 28-year-old leaving Anfield, claiming that the Viola cannot afford his wages.

"Let us not open up a soap opera, please," Franco Zavaglia told Radio Sportiva.

"Aquilani is a Liverpool player and he is happy where he is now. We have not received any requests from Daniele Prade, but that was only to be expected, seeing as Aquilani will only leave on a permanent move and at figures Fiorentina cannot afford.

"I would rule out a current return to Italy. At the moment Alberto is relaxed and on Tuesday he'll attend pre-season training with Liverpool, as planned."

Aquilani joined Liverpool from Roma in the summer of 2009 but after a disappointing debut 2009-10 campaign, he spent the following two seasons on loan at Juventus and AC Milan.
