Former Barcelona goalkeeper Jesus Angoy has said that Pepe Reina has the ability to replace Victor Valdes at the Camp Nou.

Spanish stopper Valdes revealed last week that he would not be signing an extension to his current contract at the Camp Nou, which expires in summer 2014.

Angoy believes that Reina, who came through Barcelona's La Masia academy, would be a good signing if Valdes leaves the club this summer.

"Reina has enough quality for playing at Barcelona," he told La Xarxa Radio.

"He is ready because he has already played for Barcelona, he has the profile they are looking for and has tremendous quality.

"Barcelona will miss Valdes and they need to be astute if they are to find a goalkeeper as good as Valdes."

Reina left Barcelona in 2002 to join Villareal.
