Alberto Aquilani still has a part to play at Liverpool, according to manager Kenny Dalglish.

The Italian international spent last season on loan at Juventus and has been linked with a move to Fiorentina or AC Milan.

"We have been delighted with him in pre-season and we are delighted to have him as part of the squad," said the Scot.

The 27-year-old moved to Anfield from Roma in 2009 for a reported fee of £17m, but made only 26 appearances due to injury before a loan spell at Turin.
