Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani's proposed loan move to Fiorentina has fallen through, according to Sky Sports.
The two clubs had been in talks over a loan deal with a view to a transfer at the end of the season.
However, Aquilani is believed to have stalled on the move as he would prefer a permanent deal rather than another loan switch.
The Italian midfielder was also reluctant to take a pay cut of over 50% to fit within the Serie A side's £30,000-a-week wage ceiling.
Kenny Dalglish is reportedly looking to trim his squad and free up some funds by offloading the likes of Aquilani before the close of the transfer window.
