Liverpool are close to agreeing a price with Newcastle United for Jose Enrique.
The two clubs are currently in advanced negotiations over the transfer, who has a £5m price tag, according to The Mirror.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has been in the market for a left full-back all summer and has also been linked with a move for Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge.
Spaniard Enrique recently turned down an offer to extend his Newcastle contract, while his current deal expires next summer.
The 25-year-old was fined two weeks wages earlier this month after publicly criticising the north east team's lack of ambition.
