Barcelona 'to make £65m bid for Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho'

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is reportedly a £65m target for Barcelona, although the Catalan giants could face competition from rivals Real Madrid.

Barcelona are preparing to launch a £65m bid to lure Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho to Camp Nou next summer, according to a report.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a string of top European sides over the past 12 months, including Barca's arch rivals Real Madrid who themselves are said to be weighing up a move.

Coutinho has six goals and five assists for the Reds this term in all competitions, but Spanish newspaper Sport claims that Liverpool have a real battle on their hands to keep the Brazilian at the club beyond the end of the season.

It is suggested that the former Inter Milan star has been made the Catalan giants' top summer target, with Barca chiefs hopeful that his relationship with international teammate Neymar could be enough to bring him to the club.

Coutinho, voted Liverpool's Player of the Season for successive campaigns, recently insisted that he 'feels happy and settled' on Merseyside after three years with the Reds.
