Jamie Carragher tips Kylian Mbappe to make "perfect" Liverpool move

Jamie Carragher insists that Liverpool have a realistic chance of signing Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe.

Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has insisted that the Reds have a realistic chance of bringing Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe to Anfield.

The France international has still not signed a new deal in Paris, and a recent report claimed that PSG would be prepared to sell him for €200m (£174m) this summer if he does not pen a new contract.

Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester City are thought to be the four clubs in the running to sign the World Cup winner should he leave Mauricio Pochettino's side in the upcoming market.

Carragher has claimed that his former team have a strong chance of signing the 22-year-old before he moves to the Bernabeu in the future.

"I'm not joking, it was based on the fact that Liverpool thought they had a decent chance of getting Mbappe when he was at Monaco. I know Jurgen Klopp had spoken to him then and I'm sure other clubs had at that time," Carragher told CBS Sports.

"When Liverpool were in the Champions League final and won the Champions League a couple of years ago, I think anyone watching Liverpool there with Jurgen Klopp and the support of Anfield, if you're ever gonna go to a club in England before you go to Real Madrid.

"Because I think he will, guaranteed, play for Real Madrid at some stage in his career but I'd always feel that maybe Liverpool is that perfect destination for a player like that before you make that next step."

Mbappe has scored 21 times in 29 appearances for PSG this season, including a hat-trick in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Barcelona in the Champions League.
