Kolo Toure keen for new Liverpool contract

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure admits that he is hoping to extend his stay at the club beyond the end of the current season.

Kolo Toure has insisted that he will not be retiring at the end of the 2015-16 Premier League season, despite being in the final year of his contract with Liverpool.

The former Ivory Coast international, who turns 35 in March, has made just four starts under Jurgen Klopp, including the team's 2-1 win over Bordeaux in the Europa League earlier this week.

Toure told the Liverpool Echo: "No, no, no, I'm not thinking about retiring at the end of the season. I want to carry on playing football. I love it, I feel fresh and I'm still working hard.

"I can go on for another four or five years. No, I take it year by year but as long as I feel fit and the fans and the club are happy with me I'll be here. I'll be here as long as the club think I can help. I want to do good things for Liverpool."

The defender joined Liverpool in 2013 after he came to the end of his deal with Manchester City.
