Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup believes that captain Ashley Williams will remain at the club next season.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has insisted that Ashley Williams will reject a big-money move away from the Liberty Stadium.

Williams has been linked with a transfer to Liverpool, who are managed by his former boss Brendan Rodgers, but Laudrup believes that the Welsh international will want to continue his development in Wales.

The 48-year-old told Wales Online: "Ashley renewed his contract, but it is true that you never know in football, and sometimes an offer can come in doubling your salary to play for a bigger club.

"It's the same for everyone: you would at least think about it. But I think a lot of players see that this season with Swansea is only the first part of things."

Swansea will compete in the Europa League next season, after they lifted the Captial One Cup in February.
