Liverpool plan to make Mohamed Salah the highest-earning player at the club with a big signing-on fee in his new contract, according to a report.

Liverpool have outlined a plan to make Mohamed Salah their highest-earning player, according to a report.

The Egyptian has less than two years left on his current Anfield contract, with discussions yet to begin about a renewal despite Salah claiming that he wants to spend the rest of his career with the Reds.

On the pitch, the 29-year-old continues to earn the plaudits with his performances and he has scored 15 goals in 12 appearances so far this season.

According to TEAMtalk, Salah wants to become the best paid player at Liverpool, but the club's owners Fenway Sports Group remain cautious about handing him a significant deal as he moves into his 30s.

As a result, the report states that the Reds will aim to appease the forward's wishes by awarding him a big signing-on fee in his new contract.

The report also suggests that rumours claiming that Salah is asking for £500,000 per week are wide of the mark.
