Liverpool are reportedly unaware if Georginio Wijnaldum has penned a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona.
Despite his status as a senior player at Anfield, the Netherlands international is free to speak to foreign clubs with just over three months remaining on his deal.
Barcelona, who have been frequently linked with the 30-year-old, have allegedly made progress in negotiations with the midfielder.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the Premier League outfit have not been informed of any developments with other clubs.
Wijnaldum has been used on 40 occasions this season, a consequence of Jurgen Klopp having to use Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in defence.
The player has recently insisted that he would be left 'devastated' if he was to end his five-year spell at Anfield.
