Real Madrid 'still leading race for Kylian Mbappe amid Liverpool, Juventus links'

Real Madrid are reportedly still in pole position to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappe next summer, despite a star-studded list of potential suitors.

Real Madrid are reportedly still at the front of the queue to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe next summer.

The Spanish champions are understood to have made the 21-year-old their number one transfer target for 2021, having long been linked with a big-money move for the winger.

President Florentino Perez is reportedly planning a major squad overhaul next year after not spending a penny this summer, and he regards Mbappe as the centrepiece of those plans.

However, Madrid are expected to face fierce competition for his signature, with recent reports suggesting that Juventus are lining up a world-record £361m deal which could even see five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo move in the opposite direction.

Liverpool have also previously been linked with Mbappe, while Barcelona are thought to be keeping tabs on his situation and PSG remain desperate to keep him at the Parc des Princes too.

However, Spanish outlet AS reports that Real Madrid remain in pole position due to Mbappe's desire to work with his idol Zinedine Zidane.

Mbappe's contract in the French capital is due to expire in 2022, and he is yet to sign an extension despite PSG offering a lucrative new five-year deal.
