Pepe Reina plays down talk of a move to Barcelona by declaring his desire to stay at Liverpool.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has refuted reports that he could move to Barcelona in the summer by declaring his desire to stay at Anfield.

The 30-year-old, who started his career at the Camp Nou, has been linked with a return to the Catalan outfit with news that Victor Valdes will leave the club at the end of the season.

However, Reina insists that he will not be replacing his compatriot at Barca but will support Valdes in whatever decision he makes.

"[A move to Barcelona] is not in my hands and the rumour mongering is part of that," Reina told AS. "They're such a great club, but I'm happy at Liverpool

"[Valdes] is a friend, I'm going to respect him in everything that he decides.

"He will have his reasons. He's not told me anything"

Reina joined the Reds in 2005 from Villarreal.
