Report: Liverpool formally offer Steven Gerrard one-year rolling contract

Liverpool reportedly formally offer Steven Gerrard a one-year rolling contract including a pay cut, but the midfielder is said to be in no rush to sign it.

Liverpool have reportedly formally tabled a new one-year rolling contract to captain Steven Gerrard following rumours that the midfielder could leave the club in January.

The 34-year-old, who comes to the end of his current deal next summer, was recently reported to have signed a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club ahead of an impending move.

However, according to The Mirror, manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to keep the midfielder at Anfield and a new contract including a small pay cut has been offered, but Gerrard is in no rush to put pen to paper.

Reports have claimed that the former England captain's representatives will try to convince Liverpool's owners to agree to a two-year deal if he is forced to lower his wages.

Meanwhile, Gerrard has rubbished claims that he and Rodgers have fallen out after the midfielder started on the bench for Saturday's 1-0 win over Stoke City, which marked 16 years since Gerrard's Liverpool debut.
