Liverpool chairman Tom Werner says that manager Brendan Rodgers will have the final say with regards to Andy Carroll's future at Anfield.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has refused to rule out a potential exit for striker Andy Carroll.

The England international has been linked with a move away from Anfield after just one full season with the club following the appointment of new manager Brendan Rodgers.

Carroll's former club Newcastle United are believed to be interested in taking the striker on loan. However, reports have claimed that the Merseyside outfit are only willing to sell the 23-year-old.

"Brendan is clearly the leader here," Werner told Sky Sports News. "The only thing I can say is we will do what is best for the club. At the moment Andy is on the squad, he is an important member of the England team and he has a lot of talent. We will see what happens.

"Hopefully the question will be answered shortly, but at the moment Andy is on the team and we look forward to him contributing."

Carroll is thought to have rejoined his Liverpool teammates in Boston today following an extended break after Euro 2012.
