Manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he is no closer to bringing any new players into Newcastle United.
The Magpies have been heavily linked with defensive duo Douglas and Mathieu Debuchy this summer, as well as former striker Andy Carroll.
Despite admitting that talks with numerous clubs are ongoing, Pardew does not expect any positive news in the near future.
"There's no real progress," Pardew told The Chronicle. "The two clubs need to make an agreement on the finance side about the players we're talking about.
"Unfortunately, there's no agreement at the moment."
Pardew took charge of Newcastle in 2010.
