Preview: Livingston vs. Ross County - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash between Livingston and Ross County, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Livingston shall be hoping to extend their winning run to three games on Saturday when they host Ross County, who currently find themselves in the relegation zone.

The Staggies have improved their fortunes as of late, going four games in a row without a loss, but that record was brought to an end in their last outing.

Livingston have had been hit and miss this season, which is why they find themselves in the bottom half of the table, sitting in eighth place at the moment.

However, they head into this fixture in good form having won their previous two games against Hibernian and Dundee United with the Lions showcasing their ability to grind out results.

Each match finished 1-0, proving their defensive qualities, which they will be hoping to repeat at the weekend against a team that are playing confidently at the moment.

David Martindale's squad have only managed to win two fixtures at home this season and that is something they will need to try and fix in order to keep their current run going.

It took a 66th-minute penalty from Ayo Obileye to secure the victory in their last outing, but that three points did push them away from the relegation zone.

However, Ross County have the chance to drag the Lions back down into that mix as there are only five points separating them at the moment.

While the Staggies are sat in 11th position, their form as of late has been positive, having only lost once in their previous five outings.

Although that defeat did take place in their most recent game when they were beaten by Celtic, yet even in that game Malky Mackay's team put up a great fight.

It took a 97th-minute goal from the Hoops in order to win the game 2-1, ruling out the equaliser that Jack Baldwin had scored earlier in the half.

This is something they experienced the last time they faced Livingston as well because it was in the 95th minute that Tom Parkes secured the 3-2 win for the Lions that day, with the Staggies now looking for revenge.

Team News

Keaghan Jacobs is set to be making his return to the Livingston squad in the near future, with Saturday's game being a possible date for that to take place.

However, Adam Lewis will still be out of action for the squad due to his foot problem and he is not expected to be available until 2022.

Alex Iacovitti is the only player injured for Ross County, with a hamstring injury keeping him out of action at the moment, with Keith Watson having stepped into the role lately.

Meanwhile Blair Spittal was brought into the starting lineup at the weekend after his impressive performance from the bench in the previous match.

Livingston possible starting lineup:
Stryjek; Devlin, Fitzwater, Obileye, Penrice; Omeonga, Holt, McMillan; Montano, Forrest, Anderson

Ross County possible starting lineup:
Maynard-Brewer; Clarke, Watson, Baldwin, Vokins; Paton, Tillson; Hungbo, Charles-Cook, Callachan; Spittal

We say: Livingston 1-2 Ross County

While Livingston are higher in the league table it is actually Ross County that head into this game on stronger form in their previous six fixtures.

This is something that could come into play on Saturday, with the Staggies having the qualities capable of winning this one.
