Macclesfield Town, Bristol Rovers share goalless draw

Macclesfield Town and Bristol Rovers share the points in the Conference Premier following a goalless draw at Moss Rose.

Macclesfield Town and Bristol Rovers have played to a goalless draw in their Conference Premier match at Moss Rose this afternoon.

Both sides had chances to open the scoring early on as Angelo Balanta headed just wide from a Chris Lines cross for the visitors, while Danny Whitaker was denied down the other end moments later.

The home side started to dominate as the first half progressed, but Paul Turnbull and Andy Halls both had efforts saved, while a long-range attempt from Adriano Moke flew just wide.

Rovers made a strong start to the second period as they tried to break the deadlock, but Jermaine Easter's attempt to volley in went wide, while a second effort from the striker was high.

Rhys Taylor had to remain alert in the Macclesfield goal as Rovers continued to look the more likely, but the keeper did enough to keep a powerful strike from Tom Lockyer out.

Matthew Barnes-Homer could have clinched it late on for the hosts when he tried to drive the ball in from the right-hand side in the final moments, but Will Puddy was ready to make the save, ensuring that the sides finished level.

The result leaves Rovers level on points with league leaders Barnet, while Macclesfield remain fourth in the table.
