Steaua Bucuresti boss Laurentiu Reghecampf concedes defeat in CL qualifier

Steaua Bucuresti manager Laurentiu Reghecampf admits that his side have no chance of overturning their five-goal Champions League playoff deficit against Man City.

Steaua Bucuresti manager Laurentiu Reghecampf has conceded that his side do not have a chance to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League this season.

The Romanian outfit will go into Wednesday's second leg at the Etihad Stadium trailing 5-0 after Sergio Aguero's hat-trick helped Man City to a convincing first-leg victory last week.

Reghecampf will instead look to hand playing time to some of the fringe players of his squad, but is still hopeful of putting in a good performance against Pep Guardiola's side.

"I don't think there is a question over who will qualify. Unfortunately we lost the game in Bucharest heavily," he told reporters.

"We will give a chance to some players who have not played much lately and we will try to finish this playoff in the Champions League with a good performance, because I think the players need that.

"We will try to play football. I don't think at this level that not trying to play can be helpful, especially when you play against teams such as this one."

City also missed two penalties en route to their five-goal victory in the first leg.
